Agentic AI Service to Repurpose
Project Objective
Design an AI-powered agent that supports sandwich-generation adults in helping aging parents downsize by intelligently sorting, valuing, and matching belongings for resale, donation, or responsible reuse. The system should reduce emotional and logistical burden while maximizing environmental impact and community benefit through streamlined, trustworthy repurposing pathways.
Research
We conducted primary and secondary research by speaking to sandwich generation adults involved in repurposing and by interviewing people in repurpose stores such as Goodwill and Crossroads.
Insights
People are more likely to delegate tasks to AI when its value addition is clear and apparent
For cherished items, "Value" is defined as Continuity (Emotion), not Transaction.
The cost of ownership is Cognitive, which drives the stronger desire for service compared to "Control."
Concept
We designed an AI Agent built to provide a tailored experience based on the user’s values and repurposing goals.
The Agent understands the user’s values and the product description.
In high-stress contexts, "Value" is defined as Time, not Money or Principles.
2. Since I chose financial value as my goal, the AI agent created multiple online listings of my Jeans and asked me to approve the listing before publishing them.
3. Once the listing is live, the AI agent communicates/ bargains with prospective customers and other AI Agents
